On December 21, 2012, author, comedian, and Daily Show contributor John Hodgman predicted that the world would end at midnight.
He gathered his followers to him on the shores of the Gowanus Canal to await their fate together. Unfortunately, apocalypse did not come.
But the document of that night, captured by director Lance Bangs, was later released as the acclaimed Netflix original comedy special, JOHN HODGMAN: RAGNAROK.
Now that the world has not ended, however, John Hodgman has found himself not merely heaped with shame, but also a surplus of unused RAGNAROK SURVIVAL KITS.
These special kits were designed by Hodgman himself to ensure the survival of the owner and the continuity of both human culture and John Hodgman himself in the event of major disaster.
-A special, extended edition of RAGNAROK, printed on long-lasting, electromagnetic pulse-proof HARD MEDIA (DVD), and featuring deleted scenes, extra songs, and previously unrevealed guests such as Tom Scharpling, Ira Glass, and Andrew Sullivan.
-A jar of HODGMAN BRAND SURVIVAL MAYONNAISE, specially colloided by the famed EMPIRE MAYONNAISE company of Brooklyn, NY.
-A beautiful engraved flask designed for the storage of URINE, the survival benefits of which as a fertilizer, anti-septic, and handy asparagus-theft test Hodgman has described at length.
-A unisex JOHN HODGMAN BRAND FRAGRANCE, for use when baths become scarce or dangerous, crafted beautifully and WITHOUT ANY IRONY to Hodgman’s specification by renowned DROM FRAGRANCES.
-A custom thumb drive containing JOHN HODGMAN’S IMMORTAL CONSCIOUSNESS, to be stored in case of worldwide calamity and later placed inside a robot or cloned body, thus guaranteeing CONTINUITY OF HODGMAN.
-A sample of JOHN HODGMAN’S DNA, for use in cloning John Hodgman, as per above. Specifically: MUSTACHE DNA.
All of these pieces bear labels designed by the brilliant super star type designer JESSICA HISCHE (“Moonrise Kingdom”) and have been custom fit into a rugged carrying case that you will want to keep with you at all times. EVEN IF THERE IS NO DISASTER.
Only 500 of these RAGNAROK SURVIVAL KITS will be produced, and none of the materials contained within them shall be sold separately, including the DVDs.
Each kit shall be hand numbered and marked by John Hodgman himself, and they shall sell for $150 exclusively via the website http://john-hodgman-super-package.highwire.com/
Pre-orders are now available with an estimated ship date of December 17th.
A SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR A PIECE OF JOHN HODGMAN’S MUSTACHE, never mind a DVD, some mayonnaise, a working thumb drive with a secret video on it, a functioning flask with the word “Urine” engraved on it, and some actual, really beautiful unisex cologne.
John Hodgman will be available to answer questions about the RAGNAROK SURVIVAL KIT until the last kit is sold. Then he will never speak of it again.
Due to the limited number of units, no complimentary copies shall be made available to the press or any humans. Not even close friends of John Hodgman.
But Sheila Kenny of RIGHT ON! PR may provide samples of Hische’s designs and other details.
That is all.

Where to begin with all that Matt and Kim did in 2013? It was a mega year for the Brooklyn duo who performed one sold-out show after another and won fans over by the thousands, all while releasing a string of viral videos as well as a remix album.
They kicked in the door of 2013, blazing across North America with Passion Pit before playing a rousing string of shows in Australia. A full summer of festivals followed with nearly 40 dates, including mind-blowing sets at Ultra, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Bumbershoot, Voodoo Experience, Corona Capital in Mexico City and many more. They also made three huge videos including “Let’s Go” and “It’s Alright” which have over 2.8 million and 4.7 million views, respectively.
Almost a year to the date of the release of Lightning, the duo released Lightning Remixes with remixes of Lightning tracks by Bonde Do Role, Anamanaguchi, Yung Skeeter, Salva and more. Called “an impressive album showing the band’s keen awareness and appreciation of the EDM genre,” (crustnation.com), Lightning Remixes also features nude images of Matt and Kim on the cover of the limited-edition vinyl.
To celebrate over a year of touring and to thank fans new and old for their tremendous support, from November 24 to December 7, all four of Matt and Kim’s albums, Grand, Sidewalks, Lightning, and Lightning Remixes, are $5.99 and available at http://amzn.to/1anCLBs.
Matt and Kim will wind down the year with a final NYC performance at Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays benefit show at the Beacon Theatre on December 7th. Tickets and more information available at http://www.truecolorsfund.org/homefortheholidays
