MATT BRAUNGER NEW WEBSERIES “WHITE FLIGHT” AVAILABLE ON COMEDY CENTRAL, COMING TO SF SKETCHFEST THIS WEEKEND + MORE SHOWS
MATT BRAUNGER (madTV) announces the launch of his brand new web series WHITE FLIGHT now streaming free on COMEDY CENTRAL. The year is 2042 and all of America’s white people have been transported to Canada, except for a handful of emissaries left behind. Braunger is Gary, a struggling actor and the hapless emissary for LA. WHITE FLIGHT, written by Braunger and Kevin Avery (Last Week Tonight) and directed by Nisha Ganatra (Transparent), follows Gary’s awkward struggle as he liaises between his neighbors and the suspiciously positive Dan Corporation he now works for (whether he likes it or not) in six funny, thought-provoking episodes.
WHITE FLIGHT also features guest appearances by Hari Kondabolu, Solomon Giorgio, Ian Edwards, Cyrina Fiallo, Parvest Cheena, Sam Trammell (True Blood) as Dan, Beth Grant (No Country for Old Men, The Artist) and her husband Michael Chieffo (Argo, L.A. Confidential) as Gary’s parents, Jason Winston George (Grey’s Anatomy) as Ron Cheadle, and Elaine Hendrix (Sex, Drugs, and Rock N’ Roll) as Pam.
About WHITE FLIGHT, Braunger says, “About two years ago, I had a ridiculous idea: http://www.cc.com/shows/white-flight. What if, on the year white people are no longer the majority, the leader/CEO of America (you know that’s coming) teleported all white people to Canada and absorbed it as the New United States? Then, to assure people of color that they weren’t being abandoned, left behind a white “Emissary” every 25 miles or so? Also, what would I call that act of America’s future leader? I went with the “We Just Think It’d be Better If” act.
“In the end, my hope is for the show to be as funny as possible while also getting a dialogue going. I believe we need each other.”
